Hi, We have a problem TSM/3494 library problem.

The configuration is an S7A running AIX 4.3.3 ML-09 and TSM 4.1 attached to
a 3494 Lib with 8 x 3590 drives attached by fibre.

Just before xmas the library crashed the reason is unknown.

When we brought the library back online everything seemed OK. However, over
the next few week and currently we are getting the following error messages
in the TSM log,

21/01/04 14:45:09 ANR8463E 3590 volume 008057 is write protected.
21/01/04 14:45:37 ANR8778W Scratch volume 008057 changed to Private
Status
                          to prevent re-access.
21/01/04 14:46:38 ANR8463E 3590 volume 008059 is write protected.
21/01/04 14:47:01 ANR2017I Administrator ADMIN issued command: QUERY
ACTLOG
21/01/04 14:47:06 ANR8778W Scratch volume 008059 changed to Private
Status

All the scratch tapes we have get changed to the Private status. One night
we had over 100 that got changed?

If we assign the tapes manually to a storage pools they work oK. This is
what we are doing at the moment to ensure that the environment is being
backed up.

Can anyone throw any light on the matter.
