Hi All:

The HACMP 5.1 environment consiste of 2 Clusters & 4 Nodes, one of the clusters will run DB2/LDAP & the other one will run websphere/portal server, so, in case of failure of one node in either cluster the sessions on that node will be disconnected, but does the reffreshing of the browser re-establish the session or start new session.

The other point, I had noticed that there are 2 types of clients: naïve client & intelligent client, do these types depend on the the application characteristics or HACMP 5.1

   Best Regards

This depends on whether the sessions are persistent or non-persistent sessions. Some applications and application servers use persistent or non-persistent sessions. I was recently involved in a PeopleSoft implementation and one of the issues that came up was the very same question that you're asking. For example, PeopleSoft sessions had to be "refreshed" at the web browser whenever a failover occurred because the sessions were persistent (I believe). Some applications do not support session management, and this is another consideration.

Hi All:

What will happen to the existing sessions & jobs on the failing node in HACMP environment ? Are the sessions going to take over & continue running on the 2nd node ? are the the sessions need to be re-established again ?
