Unofficially, I've done it, but the CE's know me and I know them.
As for Mcode, leave that to the CE. It is floppy based and last I checked,
it was not even on the Mcode download page.

Question for those of you who have a p670 under IBM maintenance, do you
install the system microcode? And are you allowed to install new adapter
cards? Our CE tells me if I do either, it will invalidate IBM maintenance.
We only have 1 61d IO drawer, I only see a restriction if you have 6 IO
drawers. And why can't we install our own adapters in the PCI hot swap
slots, seems simple enough to perform myself.
