I don't know that you will get any different results, but you might try ftp
from dos using mput. Not sure though how this will impact permissions on
these windows files.

I´ve tried:

1 - mapping the AIX share to a drive letter for Windows, then select all
files in the desired folder and then "copy to folder" from the "edit" menu.

2 - mapping the AIX share to a drive letter for Windows, "explore" this
drive letter, then select all files in the desired folder and then copy the
files.

3 - mapping the AIX share to a drive letter for Windows, then use "xcopy"
from a DOS "shell".

4 - using a ssh command line client (and trying to use "scp -r" )

5 - now I'm testing the use of "smbclient" + tar

And perhaps some variant from the above...
