you have to start it as root if you want it to bind to any port below 1024. this will be true of ANY tcp service. run the apachectl as root.

I had to change my httpd.conf:
Listen 80 to Listen 1080 (and this worked).

Now on my Microsoft IE (browser) I can only
get it to work if I put the correct socket
number such as:
http://(IP_addr):1080

am I stuck with this? Is there a default in AIX http?
