can you post
netstat -in
netstat -rn

before and after this route-deletion?

if you are using some kind of NAT/Firewall (or dont know if you do): did neither ping aix->outside nor outside->aix work?

As Holger says, it seems unlikely that these new routes alone could be the
cause of your problem. We've got an increasing number of AIX5L systems and
haven't seen anything like this problem. (And we've got people accessing
them from all over the world.)

Is it just telnet that fails, or ftp and other methods of access? What
about ping?
