For some reason only Linux can mount windows share using Samba.

AIX 5.2 does come with CIFS filesystem which lets you mount windows shares
I've read. I have not done so though.

Out of interest, can Windows share directories only be accessed on AIX using
the smbclient command, or can they simply be mounted like NFS drives and
accessed by standard AIX commands?

Hi:
If you want to share folders between Unix and Windows, you can run a samba
server on the Unix side and access the shares from Windows, another way is
to use samba clients from Unix to access shares from Windows side.

It depends on what you need.

Asunto: Simple samba question

Samba runs as a server on a Unix system and allows Windows to connect to it
as clients. Am I correct?

Someone wants me to run samba on Win2000 as a server, with a AIX box acting
as a client. Is this possible, or desirable? Ther requirement is to share a
directory between the AIX and Win2000 box.
