IntelliStation Power 275

We have now a number of new IntelliStation Power 275 (Power 4 RS/6000)
workstations running AIX 5.2 ML02. A few questions:

1) This new workstation can do 64-bit mode. We use these systems for
CAD/CAM and some FEA work. Not small loads, but not carrying the load of a
server either. Would it be a "good move" to run these in 64-bit rather
than 32-bit mode? Not sure CATIA (the CAD/CAM package) even supports
64-bit, but thought I would see if anyone has had experience running any
desktop/deskside workstations in 64-bit mode.

2) Can't get it to make a "beep" when there has been a typing error or any
other time? On boot up, it does a "beep-beep", but there is no longer the
"trumpet" call when the SMS option screen comes up. Anyone know why these
workstations will not beep? Have played with the CDE 'beep' settings.
Have tried CTRL-G. Have tried "xset b". Nothing will get it to beep.
The audio jack in the back seem to function... but no beep.

3) It takes forever to boot one of these systems compared to the 44P-270.
Is there an option to get a fast boot?

Not so important:

4) We use "xmcd" to play music CD's on our other AIX workstations (mainly
44P-170 and 43P-150) that are still running AIX 4.3.3. That xmcd will not
work on these IntelliStation Power 275's. Believe it is because up to now
the CD-ROM drives were on the SCSI chain but the DVD drive in the
IntelliStation is IDE. Could re-configure XMCD so I have an IDE version
but was wondering if anyone knew of a CD player that is good for AIX 5L and
will recognize the IDE DVD drive as well as the SCSI CD-ROM drive?

5) We have a few users who claim that they need the DVD drives on these
IntelliStations to play DVD video disks. Of course they assure me that
this is needed strictly for "business" to watch videos from our test labs.
No Shrek or Matrix.... Ya right. Is there an OpenSource DVD video player
that will work for AIX 5.2 and these DVD drives?

Thanks in advance,
