Thanks for your response.

Since all the disks are to be moved, we need to export rootvg as well. How
can rootvg and hdisk0 be handled?

Regards

Note the PVIDs of the disks associated with your volume group(s). (Just use
lspv.)
Do an exportvg of your existing volume group(s).
Delete the hdisks using rmdev. (Not necessary: just keeps things tidy.)
Add the new adapter and re-configure the disks.
Check the PVIDs and import the volume group(s) from the appropriate disks.

Subject: Moving HDD to new SCSI card

Dear all,

We have AIX 4.3.3 on IBM F80, we need to add a 36.8 Ultra3 HDD, which will
required Ultra3 SCSI card. IBM CE says that since there are no bays
available, existing 03 HDDs needs to be moved to new SCSI card. This will
result in re-assignment of exising HDDs and data will not be available.

What should we do to make data on existing HDDs available after this
upgrade, without restoring the backup?
