On the graphics Terminal, run xhost +

Then, telnet to the ascii console system and enter the command

DISPLAY=graphics:0.0 ; export DISPLAY

You should now be able to start the X app....

Hope this helps,

Subject: simple X windows question

All

I have 2 AIX boxes, 1 with an ascii terminal, one with a graphics terminal.

I want to run an X application(oracle install) on the server which has the
ascii console. Use of Exceed or similar not an option.

If, from the graphics console, I telnet to the server with the ascii
console, what DISPLAY settings and xhost command do I need to run to be able
to kick off the X application?

This should be simple, but I can't seem to get it to work.
