Ferenc:

Check your NFS tunables. Run an "nfso -a" and have a look at things like
packet-size, whether rfc1231 is turned on, what your keep alive is, etc. I've been
on quite a few servers with NFS performance problems, and there are some
things you want to consider:

1) If you're operating in an AIX-only environment, are all of both you NFS
and UDP tunables set the same on every box?

2) If your in a mixed environment (AIX and Sun, say), have you tuned NFS to
the largest common denominator across the platforms?

Most administrators forget that there is the NFS network-tuning suite of
commands, just like there is for TCP and UDP. Look at your "nfso -a" output, and
make sure you're at top settings for your environment, and hardware. Let me
know how this works out!
