There appears to be no conventional way to change it, i.e., no chdev ability
since lsattr does not show a field as changeable (True).
$ lsattr -El fcs0
bus_intr_lvl 19 Bus interrupt level
False
intr_priority 3 Interrupt priority
False
bus_io_addr 0x7ffc00 Bus I/O address
False
bus_mem_addr 0x8fdfe000 Bus memory address
False
max_xfer_size 0x1000000 Maximum Transfer Size
True
num_cmd_elems 1024 Maximum number of COMMANDS to queue to the adapter
True
pref_alpa 0x1 Preferred AL_PA
True
sw_fc_class 2 FC Class for Fabric
True
init_link al INIT Link flags
True

For an ethernet adapter you have alt_addr:

$ lsattr -El ent2
busio 0x7fe400 Bus I/O address False
busintr 35 Bus interrupt level False
intr_priority 3 Interrupt priority False
tx_que_size 8192 TRANSMIT queue size True
rx_que_size 256 RECEIVE queue size True
rxbuf_pool_size 384 RECEIVE buffer pool size True
media_speed 100_Full_Duplex Media Speed True
use_alt_addr no Enable ALTERNATE ETHERNET address True
alt_addr 0x000000000000 ALTERNATE ETHERNET address True
ip_gap 96 Inter-Packet Gap True
poll_link no Enable Link Polling True
poll_link_timer 500 Time interval for Link Polling True

An ESS on the one hand can use "local" addresses for it's FC HBAs.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. Anyone know if
you can do it on a f/c 6227/6228?
