Why didnt you keep using DNS and put the hostname (for oracle) in /etc/hosts?

Disabling DNS broke sendmail - hard to say what else it broke or will break in future (updates etc.). I would try to avoid this.

Betreff: Oracle Box running in a DMZ and now I can't get emails

I have a couple AIX 4.3.3.10 Boxes running in our DMZ. I had to rename my /etc/resolv.conf file to get Oracle to see its hostname correctly, rather than looking at the DMZ’s DNS Entry. Now I cannot get emails, these AIX Boxes do not want to send me emails without the resolv.conf file. I put in our domain name into the /etc/hosts but no joy.

Any help on configuring the /etc/sendmail.cf file, using the Smart Relay Option. Or, any thoughts or ideas. TIA!
