I would venture a guess that it is a boot problem. Are you booting from CD
perhaps??? If so, boot from the mksysb tape

Cloning an AIX 5L server (v5.1 ML03) to another server with a mksysb tape
and cdrom. The tape recovery was running fine until I got to the
"Overmounting" step at about 85% of the way done. Overmounting took a long
time (ran about 10-15 minutes) and then started spitting out these errors:

Symbol resolution failed for getvtid (number 258) is not exported from
dependent module 37
Over mounting /./unix
Examine .loader section symbols
Could not load program /usr/bin/sh:
Symbol resolution failed for /usr/ccs/lib/libc.a(shr.o) because:
Symbol getvtid
...

The error messages keep continuing in a loop and the recovery never
continues.

Any suggestions on what's going on and how to get through it?

Thanks.
