Here is the strange thing:

In another not yet upgraded server this is the same filesystem:

root:> df -k /syback
Filesystem 1024-blocks Free %Used Iused %Iused Mounted on
/dev/lv04 4915200 1793164 64% 55 1% /syback

And I can hold all of this:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root sybase 857651200 May 14 02:10
125-32.sybase_ebf10974_AIX43
drwxr-sr-x 2 root system 512 Jul 21 2001 aix_fix
drwxr-sr-x 2 sybase sys 1536 Jun 04 2002 dayolddumps
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 4272128 Jun 14 04:56 dbdump.SmartLink
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 128729088 Jun 14 04:54 dbdump.archive_db
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 1845248 Jun 14 04:53 dbdump.audit_db
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 187617280 Jun 14 04:51 dbdump.local_db
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 5107712 Jun 14 04:50 dbdump.master
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 227010560 Jun 14 04:48 dbdump.mdldhf
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 2738176 Jun 14 04:47 dbdump.prtdsc
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 1144852480 Jun 14 04:00 dbdump.retail_db.1
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 737001472 Jun 14 04:00 dbdump.retail_db.2
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 1143789568 Jun 14 04:00 dbdump.retail_db.3
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 733157376 Jun 14 04:00 dbdump.retail_db.4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 618496 Jun 14 04:56 dbdump.sybsecurity
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 401408 Jun 14 04:56 dbdump.sybsystemdb
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 45709312 Jun 14 04:56 dbdump.sybsystemprocs

You can see the differences and I also have free space...

I'm lost with this...

I seems that is not compressing the data into the filesystem:

root # df -k /syback
Filesystem 1024-blocks Free %Used Iused %Iused Mounted on
/dev/lv04 4915200 5620 100% 67 1% /syback

I used to put almost 8GB here, now after the upgrade I only could put 5GB:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 1439174656 Jun 14 19:13 dbdump.retail_db.1
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 1131884544 Jun 14 19:13 dbdump.retail_db.2
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 971849728 Jun 14 19:13 dbdump.retail_db.3
-rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 1360994304 Jun 14 19:12 dbdump.retail_db.4

Any ideas?

Regards,
Gustavo.-

Subject: Compressed filesystems in 5.1

Hello Everyone:
I have a compressed filesystem where I dump my
Sybase databases.
After I've upgraded from 4.3 to 5.1 I got the "UNABLE TO ALLOCATE SPACE IN
FILE SYSTEM", it seems that now is not compressing at the same rate because
the database dumps are the same. Do you know what can be happening here?

Thanks in advance,
