Subject: Help renaming devices

Hi *

I have looked at the archives and someone has posted the same question but I
cannot see a solution.

Problem:

I need to change the name of my rmt devices to be in sync with that
of my TSM server for library sharing, i.e rmt1 on the client is rmt4 on the
server. I have tried using the rmdev/mkdev command

mkdev -c 'tape' -t '3580' -s 'fcp' -p 'fscsi0' -l rmt4

Method error (/etc/methods/cfgAtape):
0514-022 The specified connection is not valid.

Aix 5.1, 3584 with 3580's, fibre attached.

I have downloaded the Atape install/user guide but all I can see in there is
to use cfgmgr. There is a section on "New Logical Name" but does not
describe on how to do this.

Cheers

Craig
