check your cdrom microcode lscfg -vl cd0 if the ROS level is less than 1_06 then you need to update your cdrom microcode to be able to boot off a 5.1L cd. You can get microcode from here: http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload//download.html HTH Raj Atwal
