You have 1411 PPs available at 128mb per so multiply 1411*128*1024*1024 and
divide by 512 giving 369885184 512b blocks to add to your jfs. Make sure
that your LV can grow that large.

Easiest way is to go to smit and change logical volume and add 1411 to the
maximum pp value. Then go to the jfs and update it by adding the above
number to the number of 512b blocks. By increasing the size of the jfs
mount point smit automatically increases the size of the logical volume, you
just have to make sure that it can grow that much. (If it can't it will
tell you and fail without corrupting anything)

Multiply your free MB by 2048 to get the new_size value for your 'chfs -a
size=new_size/fs_name' command.

Thanks for the info on adding the disk. Now I am having a problem with
determining how big to increase the filesystem. What is the formula? I
would like to allocate all that is available on the volume group? I checked
the archives but following the formulas presented only increased it by
about 500mb. I'm sure I need to someone account for the 128 PP Size. Below
is the output from lsvg:

$<root>/ < 392 > # lsvg emcdatavg
VOLUME GROUP: emcdatavg VG IDENTIFIER: 0001389f8be75084

Do an 'extendvg vgname hdiskname'

Increase the FS and the LV will fallow by doing a, 'chfs -a size=new_size
/fs_name'.

Sorry for newbie question. I am new to AIX and need to increase the size of
a logical volume by adding an additional EMC powerpath disk. I have already
done the work on the SAN but need help with the AIX commands to increase
the filesystem/logical volume/volume group. Can anyone help?
