that is not as simple as it could appear. an aix server, if not by itself the mail exchanger of a domain, must have a "smart relay host" (Dj or Dm directive, don't remember now) configured into its /etc/sendmail.cf file in order to send every message to the "smart relay host" (the domain mail-exchanger). this one delivers it to the internet.

you don't need to see port 25 for outgoing. type (as root) "sendmail -bvt name@address.com" and see what it tells you.
