problem with this is, how do you know your route to skytel.com is up? Unless you've got monitors on the outside looking in, you'll never get notified of a dead internet router, for instance.

Our pagers are with skytel (but we use to have MCI and they worked the
same). We have an email address that contains the pen number and one can
send an email to the pager.
Like 123456789@skytel.com. This is very handy and desirable. Works great.

Just wondering what everyong uses for being notified of system errors like a
tape drive offline or a disk offline etc...  I was thinking about some sort
of pager application using a serial modem but thought I would ask here first
and get some ideas.
Sometimes you aren't at work to check root's email so I wanted another way
to find out about problems.
