I recently used this to move over 50 printers between two systems.
It worked slick...

Migrating Print Queues to Another System

1. copy the /etc/qconfig (make a copy of the original before)

2. Copy the following files:
/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/custom/*
/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/dev/*
/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/ddi/*

3. change the permissions on the copied files to 664
chmod 664 filename

4. redigest the queue's
enq -d

5. run the chvirprt command on each queue
chvirprt -q <queue name> -d <device name>

6. cycle the printer subsystem
stopsrc -cg spooler
startsrc -g spooler

Subject: AIX Printer config setup to 2nd server. AIX 4.3 & AIX 5L

Hi guys.

I currently have a system running AIX 4.3.3. And have about 25-30 printers
setup on it.
We are migrating to a new AIX 5L box. Is there any way to export the
printer configs and install
them to the new box?

thanks,
Keith
