I don't believe GigE supports 1000/Half, only 1000/Full. So, as long as it
autonegotiates for 1000 you shouldn't have any problems...

IBM wisdom somehow decided that Gigabit ethernet should not have the option
for 1000/Full in smit. AUtonegotiate is the only option unless you want to
run at lower speed. I went through the same issue when we installed our
cards. You can verify that it is running at the proper speed/duplex with
entstat -d ent# and look for "Media speed running"

What filesets do I have to install to support Gigabit
Ethernet?
Right now, the cards are set to "Autonegotiate" (and
they probably have been for a lont time). The network
guys tell me that the switch ports have been set to
1000/Full (gigabit).
But, I can't set the media_speed on the card to
1000_Full_Duplex; the only options are:
PdAt:
uniquetype = "adapter/pci/14100401"
attribute = "media_speed"
deflt = "Auto_Negotiation"
values =
"10_Half_Duplex,10_Full_Duplex,100_Half_Duplex,100_Full_Duplex,
Auto_Negotiation"
width = ""
type = "R"
generic = "DU"
rep = "sl"
nls_index = 59
# lsdev -Cc adapter | grep ent
ent0 Available 40-58 Gigabit Ethernet-SX PCI
Adapter (14100401)
ent1 Available C0-60 Gigabit Ethernet-SX PCI
Adapter (14100401)
Ideas?
Thanks,
-pAG
