This is the options I use. I forgot to put them in the first mail.

rsync -varpgot /home/ str101a:/home

I have used theses same options on HP-UX 11.00 with no problems and it works
great.

I use rsync to copy files, not for copy directories. Perhaps you will need
an extra option. I am using the 2.4.6 release. This is the result of the
rsync -help.

# rsync -help
rsync version 2.4.6 Copyright Andrew Tridgell and Paul Mackerras

rsync is a file transfer program capable of efficient remote update
via a fast differencing algorithm.

Usage: rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... [USER@]HOST:DEST
  or rsync [OPTION]... [USER@]HOST:SRC DEST
or rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... DEST
  or rsync [OPTION]... [USER@]HOST::SRC [DEST]
or rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... [USER@]HOST::DEST
  or rsync [OPTION]... rsync://[USER@]HOST[:PORT]/SRC [DEST]
SRC on single-colon remote HOST will be expanded by remote shell
SRC on server remote HOST may contain shell wildcards or multiple
sources separated by space as long as they have same top-level

Yes, I even did a change directory to where rsync resides (/usr/local/bin)
and did a ./rsync /home/ str101a:/home

Asunto: rsync on AIX 4.3.3 ML10

Good Day Admins,
Has anyone been able to get rsync to work on AIX 4.3.3 ML10? I downloaded
the binary from the Bull site and when I try to run it I get the following:

str101> rsync /home/ str101a:/home
ksh: rsync: not found
unexpected EOF in read_timeout

I downloaded the source and compiled it and got the same error. Is there
something I am missing?

Thanks,
Jim Naylor
