Agreed.

Creating another JFSlog won't change the total amount of I/O done to
JFSlogs.

The only advantage would be if you created a separate JFSlog just for /tmp,
then the performance of other filesystems - remaining on hd8 - might
improve. Against that, you may suffer more disk head movement.

The best solution would be to move /tmp onto another disk, away from hd8;
possibly with its own JFSlog there.

If this is a temporary situation you might consider breaking the mirror, so
that you can have most of rootvg on hdisk0 but /tmp on hdisk1.
