Yes, AIX 5 can run under either a 32/64 bit kernal. You will just want to verify that you apps support a 64 bit kernal. For instance we have to run our AIX 51 box with a 32 bit kernal as Oracle 817 is not tested/supported with a 64 bit kernal.
