We have used migratepv on jfs systems on AIX. We have done pvmove on HP on
jfs and raw. Pvmove is just like migratepv on AIX. We were moving from an
older EMC frame to a newer frame. All were SAN attached. Worked without a
hitch. There was one. Our security people in charge made us put a 900
second timeout on root that week which I was not use to and during the first
move on HP I timed out and it semi-corrupted the VG. HP helped me and we
got it fixed without an outage or loss of data. From then on I sent the
pvmove or migratepv command to AT.

My first thought is to use migratepv, but wonder if there are any pit falls I should be aware of. I have used this in the past on a single disk, with no issues, but never all external disks. Has anyone moved all external devices (jfs and raw) with only migratepv? Not so concerned about the jfs's as I am about the raw partitions, as our database manages them and needs names to remain the same.
