from the man ifconfig

alias Establishes an additional network address for the interface. When changing
network numbers, this parameter is useful for accepting packets addressed to the
old interface.

which to me says 1.

Subject: Help with Samba 2.2.7.0 from Ucla site please

I have downloaded Samba 2.2.7.0 from the ucla site:

http://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/index.html

After untar'ing the file, I am left with just a big directory of Samba
files.

After going thru a few of the directories looking for an install document
of some kind, I can't seem to find any docs in 2.2.7.0 that actually says
how to install this.

Has anyone used this ucla download and can install it??

or

where else can I get 2.2.7.0??

The Bull site only has 2.2.5.0.

ps-I have the Samba Redbook (SG24-6004-00, "Samba Install/Config/Sizing
Guide"). If gives great info, but I can seem to install Samba 2.2.7.0 to
match this Redbook, hence my question above).

TIA.
