Joseph,

The AIX System Management Guide: Communications and Networks, SC23-4127,
goes into very little detail, but tells you the steps to execute via Smitty.

Here's the Basic PPP Setup Guide for AIX 4.2 and 4.3

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=aix13e4b62847624ef1e85256816006

I'll see what else I can dig up.

you make sure that the filesets are installed...if they are in smit, you'll
see under communicatons, tcpip, (i think further configuration), ppp. if
you don't see a menu about ppp, get your install media and install all the
ppp filesets...
i think it's bos.net.ppp or some such

How do you set up a PPP server?
any link I can follow?

You might consider setting up a PPP server on the AIX box, then you could
use FTP.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm not
sending/receiving between 2 AIX but rather
from a PC and an AIX server.

try looking up uucp & uuto commands. The files you want to send may need to
be uuencoded ( converts bin to ascii or vice versa). See man for details

I know I can't use FTP since this is not
a TCP/IP connection but simple dial-up.
Is there a shareware zmodem protocol
to send/receive files from AIX 4.3.2?

TIA
Joe
