I am trying the install the samba executable downloaded from the bull site
on to an IBMRS6000 AIX 4.3 server.
1. I am trying to run startsmb it gives the following eroor:
root:/usr/local/bin:>cat startsmb
#!/bin/sh
/usr/local/bin/smbd -D
/usr/local/bin/nmbd -D
root:/usr/local/bin:>cat /tmp/log.smb

bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use)

I have commented the following lines in /etc/inetd.conf
# The following three lines are for the Samba SMB Server (freeware)
# netbios-ssn stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/bin/smbd smbd
# netbios-ns dgram udp wait root /usr/local/bin/nmbd nmbd
#swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /usr/local/bin/swat swat
lsof gives the following output:

2. My Windows2000 pc is on different subnet
My IBM Server is on 128.209.60.XX
My Windows2000 pc is on 128.209.47.bbb
>From my win2k server:
C:\>net view \\BIGSERVER
System error 5 has occurre
Access is denied.
C:\>net use x:\\ha1svc1en0\oracle
System error 67 has occurred.
The network name cannot be found.
Please advice.
