                Subject: Filesystem Problem

                People,

Couple of collegues of mine are trying to transfer some data from an old server to a new server. The data in question is small map image tiles. They have a 48gb flesystem with these files in it on the old system.

The filesystem backs up ok but halfway through the restore on the new system the restore fails with a message about being unable to write to the current file to disk. A df at this point shows that the filesystem they are restoring into has lots of space left in it (>20gb) and plenty of inodes left. If they then try to create a file in that filesystem from the command line (e.g. yes > yes.out) its size max's out at 32kb.

The old server is running AIX 4.2.1 whilst the new server is running AIX 4.3.3 ML10. Files are transported via tape using backup/restore.

                Any ideas?

                Tim
