I agree with Lamar, to use the PVID to reduce it rather then the "hdisk"
name. Check to see if any of the partitions on that disk your trying to
reduce are "stale". If Lamars' suggestion doesn't work let me know. I will
then send you procedures on how to manually remove the drive from the AIX
ODM.

Do a reducevg by the PVID vs. the hdisk name. Use the PVID the system
thinks it has in the VGDA.

I.e.;

reducevg hekvg 0057871a14afe020

        I am trying to reduce a volume group by one hdisk. The problem
