I am seeing separate issues here. Can you run X-windows on the HMC? Sure.
This is irrespective of the partition the P670 is in.

Can you run xwindows on a p670 HMC when system set to Full System
Partition?
A vendor told us we could install and run additional application on our HMC
as long as we installed an ethernet card but documentation I am reading
says
you cannot.
Haven't got machine yet, just preparing.
