Re: oracle (?) problem

no, I dont have an account on metalink.

these differences (one instances opens 3 x , the other 2 x ) continue in
the tracefiles.

however, I found the point (much later in the tracefile, after they look
the same for many lines) where oracle decides to write a .trc:

        cmd: 8 filename:
/datafms/data1a/oracle/PFMSRdata/data/Alerted_cdr_swisscom.DBF
        cmd: 8 filename:
/datafms/data1c/oracle/PFMSRdata/part_data/CDR_SWISSCOM_SPC_0101.DBF
        flags: 67108864 mode: 0 fd: 27 filename
/datafms/data1c/oracle/PFMSRdata/part_data/CDR_SWISSCOM_SPC_0101.DBF
        file descriptor = 27

so far the tracefiles are the same, with different filenames of course.
then the trace of the non-working instance goes

        cmd: 8 filename: /logfms/oracle/PFMSR/bdump
        file descriptor = 2
        cmd: 8 filename:
/logfms/oracle/PFMSR/bdump/dbw0_205776_pfmsr.trc
        flags: 67109633 mode: 640 fd: 2 filename
/logfms/oracle/PFMSR/bdump/dbw0_205776_pfmsr.trc

So I assume (I dont have any idea of oracle) that there is something
wrong with the files resp. the data in them
/datafms/data1a/oracle/PFMSRdata/data/Alerted_cdr_swisscom.DBF
/datafms/data1c/oracle/PFMSRdata/part_data/CDR_SWISSCOM_SPC_0101.DBF

Is there any way to check those files? fileperms are ok, as you see
oracle reads them

Not sure why there is a difference (2 and 3) when you run watch. I did
a search on Metalink and found the following:

Doc ID: Note:1013601.102
Subject: ORA-03113, ORA-07445: DURING INSTANCE STARTUP

Do you have an account on Metalink? If not, let me know and I can copy
and paste the text of the Note in the email for you. It looks like they
have a different suggestion.
