Look at the man page for find. There are search option for -nouser (no
corresponding user in /etc/passwd) and -nogroup (no corresponding group in
/etc/group).

Subject: Anyone already have a script to list ALL files with no VALID USER
or GROUP NAME?
Hi-
I need to scan multiple systems for files that do not have a user or group
name. (just a uid/gid that is not part of the /etc/passwd or /etc/group
file)
Any ideas on the quickest way to find those files?
thanks,
-pablo
