pretty sure the license has to come from IBM. When ever I order AIX for a
used machine I have to buy the license from IBM which comes with the cd's
and a card which is proof of license. I do know that if I replace an
existing machine that has a license with another RS/6000, I can transfer the
license from the old to the new. With HP-UX I have never had to by the OS
license when I have purchased a used HP9000. It comes installed on the
system. I am not sure where the license goes for IBM. You would think that
it would go with the system if it was purchased for that system.

Eww, looks like pirating time. :-(

What constitues an AIX license? Could the following eBay articles be real
licenses, or are they most likely only install media?

All those used machines are sold excluding the license. Where do the
licenses go? Does IBM forbid the sale of used licenses?
