cant you do u+s on the top-binary? that might be safer.
I would avoid to allow anyone to read the kernel-memory.

Subject: Safe to add read attributes to /dev/kmem?

Hello,

Our DBA's want to run top but can't because of the permissions
on /dev/kmem. I was thinking of running a simple chmod o+r /dev/kmem
command but wanted to run it by the group before I hit [return].

Is there anything wrong with this?

TIA,
Anthony
