There is a special "cfgmgr" that EMC runs. The "standard" cfgmgr that AIX
runs does not play very nicely with EMC disks and BCV's.

Put EMC's "cfgmgr" in /etc/inittab and your problems should go away.

Bill.

Hi!

I'm looking for info, real life experience, usefull scripts, links etc
(in a few words anything usefull)
on how to administer EMC disk storage box connected to AIX machine.
Actually we have bad truoble during boot process on AIX 4.3.3ML9
(EMC box is connecetd trough scsi , with powerpath.)
BCV usually get lost, change state etc . Our local support from both
EMC and IBM was not able to help much.

Actually I suspect cfgmrg run during rc.boot phase 3 but there is no
documentation what to change in boot process, this was also a hint by
our IBM support.

Also I'm interestd in configuratiuon collection scripts for EMC on AIX
there are some examples in the articles by W.Wood in SysAdmin magazine
but this scripts do not work on my machines.

I'll summarise at the end.

PS:

I'll be very glad if I can get Mr. Wood email to contact him.
