Bill,

Thanks!

I actually used the following command to create a 1TB vg

mkvg -B -s 1024 -t 16 -y vg00 hdisk2 hdisk3

Worked perfectly!

Thanks again!

If there are only 2 disks, consider using the "-t" option to add more PP's
to the disks. Recall that this will change the max # of drives in the VG
each time you double the -t value.

Other than that, I'd go with the 1GB PP size.

Folks,

We will be installing some new disk drives into our system

They will be using RAID 5

Here's what the customer suggests:

1.
The limiting variable is # of pp's per hdisk = 1016. Since we have 2 hdisks
in our stripe, we can get 2032. The current pp size is 256mb which allows
for 2032*256mb = 520gb of logical volumes, total. We need almost double
that, so using pp size of 512mb is essential. Using a pp size of 1024mb or
1gb may be better.

The total space for Volume Group vg00 will be 1.1 TB

It will be comprised of 2 hdisks which are striped also.

Which would be better to use?

512MB/PP
1024MB/PP

The data residing on the disk will be db2 databases

Thanks!
