Yeah. Such is the way.

Why is is that 10 years after I decide YP (er, NIS) was
just too much of a security risk to stay with, little has changed?
NIS+? er, no, too messy. LDAP? well, its coming along, but what is
the secure transport (SSL?). AD for Unix? God help us.

He can't use supper for the same reason he can't use rdist.

There's no magic answer to this. You've either got to make a common set of
accounts on all three systems or use something like NIS, LDAP, or a single
sign on product.
