Are you sure it is not resolving via DNS first ? Do you have a resolv.conf
file for DNS resolution and do you have a netsvc.conf file to over ride the
default mechanisms of the resolver ?

Subject: reading from the bottom up

G'day,
normally we add hostnames to /etc/hosts and we find that if by
chance you have two IP addresses defined for one hostname, the AIX systems
reads like we do from the top downwards and matches the first found entry.
We recently had a problem where we found either the application (
SWIFTAlliance ) or IBM DCE to read from the bottom up and match the first
entry found.
Anybody have an explanation for this one?
Willem J.
