Just as another note, we have discussed 64 bit compatibility on 32 bit
machines before too. Simply put, it will not work because the 64 bit
compatibility mode also requires a 64 bit machine. It will look like loaded
and add the cfg64bit to you /etc/inittab; but the kernel width will remain
32 bit.

Just a reiteration on that point.

The answer is no, Oracle 9i will not run on a F50 - you need a 64-bit
capable machine. We learned this the hard way ... trying it.
