AIX backup and restore help requested.

I've been asked to send some data to a customer site, and I need some help.

I'm using a 3592J1A tape drive in a 3494 library attached via SAN using
the atape driver, on AIX 4.33 ML10.

I have a feel for that portion of the work, as we use this setup for day
to day operations with TSM.

The problem I'm running into, is that the 3592 would perform better with
128k or larger block sizes, but I'm having trouble getting "backup" and
"restore" to generate or use 128k blocks.

I've read and re-read the manpages for backup and restore, and it seems
like the "-b" switch determines how many 512 byte blocks make up a
cluster, but this doesn't sound like what I need. (?)

I've also tried having "backup" use standard out, and passing that to dd
to do block size conversion. So far the results are mixed.

Can anyone on the list spare some wisdom wrt "backup" and "restore".

Thanks, [RC]
