CRON jobs disappear

Hi List,

Our crontab for root appears to have emptied itself about two weeks
back.

Other than a root user running crontab -r can anyone suggest why this
might have happened? Only four people use the machine and they do so in
a database environment that would make an accidental crontab -r pretty
unlikely.
