It could be a corrupted super block but then again, if this is just
happening to one user, that rules out that theory. Check the file
"/etc/security/user" for any NIS options maybe your NIS server timed out if
you are running an NIS network. Also check your "/etc/passwd" you may want
to run the "pwcheck" command to ensure it's integrity. I would be
interested in the solution.

Hi All,
This is happening for one of the user account(macss) on AIX.
I'm not sure what the cause is here, the symptoms
I am seeing are a hang for about 5 seconds after login, an
error after that, and just now, this:
/macss>ps -ef | grep check
macss 20344 33736 3 11:11:24 pts/2 0:00 grep check
/macss>
Connection closed by foreign host.
Login is working ok at the moment but the first macss
login after some time usually returns "error received while
creating a file descriptor". This is after the hang ends.
has anyone seen this before ?
Thanks .
