Examining Successful and Unsuccessful Login's

We have an audit requirement that we examine (daily) failed and
successful login's on our Tru64 Unix system.

It looks like the audit subsystem may be the best way to do this. Is
there an alternative? Anyone else ever have to do something like this?
Ideally we were thinking we'd create a cron job that would send us an
e-mail each day of successful/unsuccessful login's.
