Hi all,

I tried btcreate option & it worked smoothly.
Following are the details:

a. Took the btcreate of existing 9GB OS disk.
b. prepared the new RAID1 of 2x 72GB Disks
c. prepared partitions for OS in the new Disk through diskconfig.
d. Removed the existing OS disk from the Server
e. From console I run P00>>>boot -fl "nc" mka500
f. used Advanced option while restoration. It asked for all the
available disks where restoration can be done.
g. Selected the required Disk & then the partition for SWAP, ROOT,
USR/VAR.
h. Booted the Server with new RAID Disk
i. changed the /etc/fdmns links for the Data Disks.
j. Once OS disk is moved from 9GB to new RAID disk, OS was upgraded from
5.1A to 5.1B-2 through "installupdate" utility.

This was a very simple & straight forward solution.

Thanks & regards.
Vimal

Subject: Shifting Tru64Unix OS from standalone to RAID Disks

Hi All,

 I have 1x ES40 Server with Tru64Unix 5.1A installed in single disk 9.1
GB
Now I'm planning to upgrade this OS to 5.1 B-2 in new set of RAID Disks
for more protection.
New OS has to work with the existing oracle database & application.

Can you please suggest me the easy & best way to upgrade the OS to 5.1 B
to New raid disk.

A. Is it possible to restore btextract of OS from 9GBDisk to new RAID
Disks. Later run GENVMUNIX to re-configure the Kernel.
B. Then upgrade OS from 5.1A to 5.1B-2

OR

Another Option leave the existing OS, install fresh OS 5.1B-2 directly
in new disk ..
Is there any procedure to relink the Oracle binaries and database .....

Many Thanks in Advance
Vimal
