The problem was caused by the compiled GMT timezone file not being world
readable changed the permissions on this file and others and all came
good.
-- Original Question --
Hi all
I am having a problem where some users on one of my boxes display GMT
when the date command is run while other users on the same box display
the correct timezone (Australia/Sydney) EST when the date command is
run. I have checked the users environment variables they do not have the
TZ variable set in both instaces.
I am a bit perplexed as to what is going on here. As the man pages are
not giving awayany clues here
OS: version 5.1a pk6 with updated timezone patch.
local time zone Australia/Sydney
contents of /etc/svid3_tz
:Australia/Sydney
localtime -> /etc/zoneinfo/Australia/Sydney
