Tru64 make and GNU make

Dear Managers

Is anybody aware of any port of the Tru64 make for Linux? Linux
comes with gnumake as its make. Consequently some makefiles designed
for installation on Tru64 don't work on Linux. This is causing me a
problem porting some legacy Fortran code from our DS20 AlphaServer to
its Linux replacement. I either need to rewrite the makefile, get a
Tru64-like non-gnu make to correctly parse the original makefile on
Linux, or rewrite the whole application from scratch.

Any ideas as to which is the easiest? I'm assuming the first, but
want to exclude the second before I dive in. If the first, does
anybody know of a good tutorial on tweaking Tru64 makefiles for
running under gnumake?

Thanks in advance
Derek
