NFS Server IP address change

Hi,

Does anyone know of a way to change the IP address of an NFS server,
without needing to reboot the NFS clients that have active mounts ?

My NFS server is running 5.1A.
The NFS clients are running either 5.1A or 5.1B.

I've just tried to do this, and everything on the NFS server looked OK.

All the NFS clients were however reporting:

Jan 12 16:38:48 odba03 vmunix: NFS3 server hostname not responding still
trying

even though the new IP address was being resolved properly.

I tried umounting all the NFS mounts, but that just hung, as did umount -f

I'm guessing if the clients were rebooted then whatever was being held
open to the old IP address would have been cleared.

However as the clients boxes are all in production I couldn't reboot
them, so I had to put the IP address on the NFS server back to what it
was. After this everything started working again.

Any ideas ?

Cheers,

Rob
