System fails to find SCSI devices

Managers,

I have an ES40 running Tru64 5.1A PK6, and if I
present a new LUN to the system, it fails to pick it
up. All disks and tape devices are SAN attached.
Everything is corectly zoned. The ES40 has two
FCA2354 HBAs with the latest FW and drivers.

I do not have this problem with my other Tru64 server
on the SAN or any of the Windows servers on the SAN.

A reboot was the only way to get it to discover the
devices last time this happened. I remember a
convoluted procedure about cleaning up the hwmgr
database to discover devices, but anything I did to
delete stuff from hwmgr or force a rediscover didn't
work. There are currently no stale devices (some have
both valid and stale paths, but all have a valid first
path).

It does not loose connectivity to the devices it
already sees (several luns on an EVA5000).

My current issue is that I was having some tape drive
ordering issues. I removed the tape drive devices
from all the Windows and Tru64 servers that were SAN
attached to it on the SAN (an MSL5026). I rebooted
the library/MDR and rescanned the bus and all the
servers but this one rediscovered the tapes.

Any thoughts?

TIA,

Rich
